Fall Stripey Longies, etc.

Just finished these up a day or so ago...using up some scraps, and I love how they turned out! I love the look of the stripes, but I had sooo many ends to weave in!

Here's some yarn I dyed up a couple days ago, as well. "Tropical Fish" dark, on lion wool.

Swapping is so much fun!

I got involved in a longies for yarn swap on Hyenacart recently, and here's how it works. I recieve yarn from someone who wants me to knit or crochet her some longies. In return, as payment, I get an equal amount of yarn to keep. These are the longies I made out of the Peace Fleece she dyed and sent me.

From the Freckle Bottoms pattern, these have a moss stitch cuff:

And these are crocheted from my Gillyweeds Bottoms Up Soaker pattern, with a little ruffle.

Goodbye.

I don't usually use this blog to do a lot of musing, it's mostly just stuff about my crafts and a few other things. But today, I can't help thinking about life and all that I am grateful for.

I have a number of online "friends". I call them friends even though I don't know some of them very well, and don't know most of them in real life. But I have shared in their joys, their triumphs, and their sorrows, and shared a few of my own. Yesterday, one of those friends lost her husband to suicide. My heart, and my prayers go out to this family who is grieving their husband, son and father at this time.

May his family find peace in the end of his suffering here on earth.

First Week of School!

Let the real crafting begin! Now I'll have so much more time to devote to knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking....

Right?

Well, time will tell.

The Yellow Purse.

Not thrilled with it, but here it is. Now I know what not to do for the next one. I listed it anyway, but I will probably stick with flat totes from now on!

Basic Crocheted Neckwarmer

This is a very basic crocheted neckwarmer that I whipped up for a friend. It's super fast and cute, and super easy, too. Start to finish took about 1 hour.

Tools: US "K" crochet hook
Needle for sewing on button and weaving in ends
Thread or extra yarn for sewing button
1 3/8" to 1/2" shank button, or larger if you can squeeze it through the hole!

Yarn:
I used Bernat's Softee Chunky (Bulky yarn), in Hot Pink, using just about half of one ball. With the other half, you could make a matching hat!

Gauge:
I got 11 stitches and 10 rows per four inches with my "k" hook. The finished neckwarmer is 4 inches by 29 inches.

-- Chain 81

Row 1. Half double crochet (HDC) in the back bump of the 2nd chain from the hook and into the bump of each chain across. (80 stitches), chain 1, turn.

Rows 2-9. *HDC into each stitch across, ch. 1, turn* repeat for each row.

Row 10. HDC into each stitch across, finish off at last stitch. Weave in ends.

-- Sew on button, about 4-5 inches from one end of the neckwarmer, as shown. Use any hole at the opposite end as a buttonhole. Buttons with shanks work much better than flat buttons.

This neckwarmer is meant to be a little longer, and overlap like a scarf. It can also just be wrapped around and tucked in if you want, without the button at all.

This would also work for a man, a woman or a child, and stripes would be very cute also!

Beautiful on 3 ply Purewool

I finally finished Khloe's sweater! It is so soft and squishy, I am looking forward to winter so she can wear it! I wish I could afford to use Purewool for everything.
