Black Friday

Here it is, Black Friday. Only 33 days left of Christmas shopping. Ugh. I have just as much Christmas spirit as the next person, but the shopping is nuts! I went to several discount places today, Walmart, Target, Shopko. It's the same everywhere. Scrambling to get the best deal, and not always being very jolly about it. Having five kids, I want to save money, too, but I get so tired of the commercialism that is Christmas in this country.

If I had gotten started earlier, I would have made something for everyone this year. But again, with five kids, I don't have the time (well, I didn't MAKE the time). So I was out shopping this morning (not at too crazy of an hour, either, 9:00 am's not too bad), and everywhere I went were lines, and lines and more lines. I went to one store, and all I got was a box of kleenex and a couple pairs of earrings, and I had to stand in line for 15 minutes. I love shopping, don't get me wrong, but it's not as much fun when there are 10 thousand other shoppers out there at the same time, waiting in line.

I should have gone to my lys and gotten some yarn to make into one of the seven hats I want to make before Christmas, as well as the fingerless mitts and scarves I want to work on, and don't forget the socks (seven pairs, of course) and that's just for my own family. And, I haven't started yet. I guess everyone else will just have to get gift cards this year.
